The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has decided to suspend operations at its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after discovering substandard food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, stated that the affected SPPG units will remain closed until the investigation is completed and the MBG food samples are fully tested. BGN is working with independent institutions, along with local health and education departments, to investigate the root cause of the issue and monitor the health of affected students. The agency expressed sincere apologies to the students, parents, schools, and all parties impacted by the incident and reaffirmed their zero-tolerance policy for negligence in providing MBG meals. They are taking corrective measures such as enhancing partner screening, improving hygiene standards, monitoring food quality, and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future. BGN remains committed to upholding food safety standards and ensuring the effectiveness of the MBG Program with the support of stakeholders. This incident serves as a lesson for future improvements in the program.
