President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, lauded Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for successfully mediating the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, resulting in a ceasefire. This commendation was conveyed during their bilateral meeting at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. President Prabowo congratulated Prime Minister Anwar for his leadership as Chair of ASEAN, highlighting the successful mediation efforts that led to the ceasefire agreement. He expressed Indonesia’s readiness to support Prime Minister Anwar in his capacity as both the head of government in Malaysia and the Chair of ASEAN. Emphasizing the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, President Prabowo urged ASEAN nations to prioritize consultation, negotiation, and deliberation in addressing regional conflicts. He underscored the significance of mediation as a crucial avenue for conflict resolution, especially among Southeast Asian countries with shared cultural and historical ties. Accompanied by senior members of the Red and White Cabinet, President Prabowo welcomed Prime Minister Anwar, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretariat, Prasetyo Hadi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, during the meeting. The President’s message emphasized the shared principle of resolving issues through consultation, mediation, and consensus as nations with common backgrounds, cultures, and religions.
