President Prabowo Subianto recently announced a bold plan to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children in Indonesia by the end of 2025. This initiative, declared as a national priority and urgent matter by Prabowo, aims to address the pressing need for nutritious meals for children across the country. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Prabowo shared a personal experience from his visit to Central Java, where he witnessed the overwhelming demand for the program. Touched by the children’s plea for nutritious meals, he immediately pushed for an accelerated implementation of the program, targeting to reach 20 million children by mid-August. The ultimate goal is to reach 82.9 million beneficiaries by December 2025. Prabowo’s ambitious plan has garnered international attention, with other nations expressing interest in learning from Indonesia’s approach. Despite the optimism, Prabowo emphasized the importance of delivering tangible results and invited accountability for the program’s success. The Free Nutritious Meal Program is a key component of Prabowo’s vision to combat child hunger, malnutrition, and educational disparities, ensuring that every child has access to the necessary nourishment to thrive and excel.
