Indonesia’s dominance in the ASEAN Digital Awards 2025 showcases the maturity of Indonesia’s startup ecosystem and its ability to compete globally. The event, held in Bangkok, Thailand, saw Indonesian startups clinching a total of 9 awards, including 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals out of the 18 awards up for grabs.
The victory underscores Indonesia’s startup ecosystem’s competitiveness on the international stage, as stated by Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkominfo) Meutya Hafid. The hard work of startup players in bringing glory to the nation has been a source of pride for the country. The achievement has also received praise from various quarters, including Prof. Eko K. Budiardjo, a Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia, who hailed it as Indonesia’s “highest achievement in the digital field in the Southeast Asian region.”
The success at the ASEAN Digital Awards 2025 highlights Indonesia’s highly competitive digital innovation level, as noted by Prof. Eko, who also served as one of the judges. The award winners from Indonesia in various categories included DTO MoH (Ministry of Health) and Open Desa in the Public Sector, Cexup in the Private Sector, Wonderjack and Silang in Digital Inclusivity, Shevia in Digital Content, and Surplus in Digital Startup.
