President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the education sector during his State Budget 2026 Financial Note presentation at the House of Representatives’ plenary session. The proposed budget, amounting to Rp 757.8 trillion, marks the highest allocation for education in Indonesian history. Prabowo highlighted the significance of delivering quality education to foster globally competitive human resources and tackle poverty. The allocation aims to enhance teacher welfare, vocational training, and curriculum alignment with labor market demands. Specific initiatives include funding programs like Program Indonesia Pintar and Kartu Indonesia Pintar scholarships, as well as upgrading educational facilities. Prabowo also emphasized supporting underprivileged children through initiatives like Sekolah Rakyat and Sekolah Unggul Garuda. The government aims to provide scholarships through LPDP to nurture a generation prepared for global competition. Prabowo concluded by stressing the importance of strengthening Indonesia’s capabilities in STEM fields.
