European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has revealed a new visa policy that will facilitate the entry of Indonesian citizens into the European Union. Effective immediately, Indonesians visiting the EU for the second time will be eligible for a multi-entry Schengen visa. The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Berlaymont Building in Brussels. Von der Leyen emphasized that this policy is not just about simplifying travel, but also about strengthening long-term connections between the people of Indonesia and the EU, particularly in areas such as education, investment, and social exchange. This move is part of the people-to-people connections pillar, highlighting the focus in the EU–Indonesia strategic partnership to build bridges between the two nations. President Prabowo also welcomed the enhancement of EU–Indonesia ties, emphasizing the importance of building trust and shared values for a lasting relationship. He expressed hope for the finalization and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels, signaling a new era of openness, cooperation, and mutual benefits for both Indonesia and the European Union.
