Prabowo: Indonesia’s Path to Net-Zero Emissions

President Prabowo Subianto is confident that Indonesia will achieve net-zero carbon emissions according to the schedule, making the country one of the first to reach this significant milestone. In a video conference focusing on renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s ability to efficiently produce energy and reduce expensive logistics chains. Energy independence is integral to Indonesia’s goal of national sovereignty, with the government planning to launch 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to provide clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago.

Prabowo praised the collaborative efforts of various ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil in supporting Indonesia’s energy transformation. While acknowledging the country’s substantial oil and gas reserves, he stressed the importance of renewable energy, especially solar power, in achieving energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide. The President expressed optimism for Indonesia’s future, highlighting solar energy as a promising solution for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. Through the utilization of renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
