Vincencia Toma, a resident of Radamata Village in Kota Tambulaka District, South West Sumba, shared her experience with the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program that has positively impacted her and her child’s daily life. Being a pregnant mother with a four-year-old child, Vincencia used to have whatever was available for breakfast before the program started. However, since receiving meals from the MBG program, her child now finishes every meal provided. Vincencia, who has been part of the program for nine days, appreciates the delicious and nutritious meals provided, which have helped improve her family’s eating habits and food distribution throughout the day.

As a nine-month pregnant mother, Vincencia is among the beneficiaries of the MBG nutrition service kitchens in her village, which cater to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. She is grateful for the government’s initiative in offering free and nutritious meals to rural mothers and children, ensuring they receive meals rich in protein and variety. Vincencia hopes for the continuation of the program, recognizing its significance in enhancing community health.

Under the management of the Tambolaka Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), the MBG program in Southwest Sumba focuses on providing meals to schools and health posts, targeting pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. By using locally sourced ingredients and emphasizing balanced nutrition, the program aims to address health issues and reduce stunting rates in the region. Vincencia’s testimonial reflects the positive impact of the MBG program on families in South West Sumba, demonstrating its meaningful contribution to community well-being.
